life demands that you live it

I heard a great quotable phrase Friday on NPR . . . "life demands that you live it." I think that is such a great way to live. This morning in our Bible Study class, our main discussion was about the same thing. God does not intend for us to worry about everything that happens in our life. He does not intend for us to close ourselves off in a cocoon and hide from the world. We must live our lives to the fullest. Embrace each day as a new opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people around us. Life does not wait for us if we stop to feel sorry for ourselves, or to want what our neighbors have. Life does not wait for us if we hang on to our children and "guard" them from the outside world. There is no outside world. We are all part of the same community. We need to seize the day. Make the best of the decisions we have made. Trust God to help us through our storms and our troubles. Give up our worries. Take a stand for something. Make a difference. Take a chance. Embrace life, because life demands that you live it.

Just a little note about the picture in this post. I love blurred photography. I was taking some product shots last week at my work and the thought occured to me that the digital camera sitting on the tripod looked so ominous. I took out my trusty little compact digital and snapped this picture while shaking the camera. The end result is quite striking.

I can still remember . . .

cold days on a sled-beaten hill
kool aid and apple pie coolin on the window sill
playin army dick tracy or batman and robin
watchin mom bake a cake
or thread a sewing machine bobbin
dammin up the creek playin in the mud
wonderin why a cow eating grass
is called chewin cud
freeze tag jump rope rollin in the clover
mother-may-I simon says red rover red rover
eatin sunday dinner at grandma's house
watchin smoky play tag with a little grey mouse
ridin my pony runnin from the rooster
yellin big time when I got a chicken pox booster
buildin our own wagons makin our own kites
listenin to dad's ghost stories
and not sleeping half the night
these are the days I remember so well
and our children too will have stories to tell!
